Protecting the unborn

During this year’s legislative session, I have supported several bills to preserve the rights of the unborn with the goal of abolishing abortion. Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt signed into law landmark legislation earlier this month.

There is more that needs to be done. I co-authored House Bill 4111, carried by Rep. Mark Vancuren (R-Owasso), which addressed consequences for the mother, father and physicians involved in an abortion. Unfortunately, this bill did not receive a committee hearing.

The House did hear and ultimately approved legislation prohibiting a physician from knowingly performing or inducing an abortion on a pregnant woman. House Bill 4327 allows private civil actions to be brought against people aiding in an abortion. The bill was sent to the Senate, where it passed its committee and now awaits a hearing on the Senate floor.

A few weeks ago, Stitt signed into law a measure that will make abortion completely illegal in the state of Oklahoma except when it is the only thing that will save a mother’s life. This bill will fine any doctor performing an abortion up to $100,000, and they will face up to 10 years in prison.

The Woke Left, led by extremist Kamala Harris, decried Oklahoma. We should be proud. This is the most restrictive abortion law in the nation. These bills are important because research indicates that if people don’t experience consequences for their actions, they will continue doing them.

It’s truly my belief that life is precious because people are made in God’s image. This includes the mother as well as the child. If an abortion occurs, depression and anxiety are likely to follow because it is outside of God’s will for man to end what He created.

As a Christian and a psychologist myself, I believe the preferred type of therapy is called Christ-like therapy. For an individual who has given their life to God, this therapy teaches them to allow God to guide every decision they make, truly releasing it to Him and not picking it up again.

I’m proud to support legislation on this issue because I believe protecting the lives of our unborn babies is one of the most important things we can do.

I’m very grateful for the opportunity to represent House District 15 at the Oklahoma Capitol. vou may reach me by telephone at (405) 557-7375 or by e-mail at randy.randleman@okhouse.gov.
