Two ‘Purple Heart Communities’ honored in Wilburton
iast weekendI f was honored to attend the naming of the United ppanish War seterans Colony and lklahoma Home CommunityI both of WilburtonI as “murple Heart Communities.” This is an honor bestowed on these two communities honoring their purple heart reJ cipients. lur purple heart recipients should never be overlooked or forgotten for the sacrifices they have made.
iast ThursdayI f also had a visit from bastern lklahoma ptate College Agriculture Ambassadors. This is a group of college stuJ dents who promote agriculture while they further their educational experience. f’m always glad to get the opportunity to visit with and mentor these students.
A couple of bills we passed last weekI which f supportedI include penate Bill 11MM that simply states the biological sex of a child will be identified as either male or female on an lklahoma birth certifiJ cate. f never thought this was such a controversially issue. ft passed out of the House along party lines.
The other billI House Bill 44RRI authorizes lklahoma Gov. KevJ in ptitt to try to land a large electric battery manufacture to the state of lklahoma using tax rebates once qualified investment and direct new jobs have been added. lklahoma desperately needs to diversify our economy and not rely solely on the oil and gas industry. There is no guarantee this manufacture will locate hereI but this is a step in that direction.
This is our last week of hearing penate bills in the House. kext weekI our work turns to budget talks for the next fiscal year. This is also our last week to get any of our House bills heard on the penate floor. f have several f’m anxiously watching and promoting. jore on this next week.
