Softball Heavener wins one in

Class 4A regional Red Oak downs Kiowa,

Pocola at home Abbie Tovar and Ashton Grogan both hit two home runs as Red Oak beat Kiowa 12-0 at home on Tuesday. Grogan was 3-for-3 with a triple and six runs batted in. Tovar was 2-for-2 with a walk. Hayden White was 2-for2 with two RBIs. Maycee Butcher was 2-for-2 with a walk. Lexi Ober was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Pocola beat Kiowa 14-8 at Red Oak. Kail Chitwood hit two home runs, one in the fourth inning and one in the fifth, and had five RBIs. Allyssa Parker was 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple and three RBIs. Kylee Smith and Mika Scott both had two hits and an RBI.

To finish the evening, Red Oak beat Pocola 15-5 with home runs by Tovar, Grogan and Brook Dietz. Red Oak led 11-0 by the bottom of the second inning. Grogan also walked twice and had two RBIs. Tovar was 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Graciee Noggle was 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Dietz was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

For Pocola (23-4), Kail Chitwood was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Allyssa Parker was 2-for-3 with a home run.

Heavener (19-15) lost its first game 14-9 to Oktaha.

Heavener trailed 14-3 through four innings before clawing back. Heavener scored three in the fifth inning, but only three in the next two. Cayleigh McGee was 4-for-4 with a two-run home run. McKinley Alexander was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Marianna Garcia and Morgan Smith both had two hits and two RBIs. Kinley Brand and Ava Cartwright both had two hits and an RBI.

Heavener won its second game 23-12 against Preston.

McGee went 4-for6 with three home runs and five RBIs. Smith was 4-for-4.

Heavener lost its thirdgame 18-3 to Oktaha.

Paisley Stacy hit a home run. Brand was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Indians fall at Dewar

Pocola (5-16) lost 13-5 at Dewar on Monday. Pocola scored two runs in the top of the first inning. After a five-run Dewar third inning, the Indians rallied to tie by the top of the fifth before the Dragons (22-5, ranked fifth in Class A) totaled eight runs in their next two turns at bat.

A.J. Lyons-Jerrell went 2-for-3. Trenton Underwood walked twice. Trintan Pitsco and Trenton Thompson both had a walk and two RBIs. Kolby Masterson hit a home run.

Red Oak starts Class A

regional strong

Red Oak started its Class A regional at home on Wednesday. In the first round against Quapaw, Red Oak won 15-5.

Red Oak scored two runs in the first inning. The Eagles added six runs in the second, including a two-run double by Coby Bell. The Eagles had a four-run third inning.

Coby Bell allowed two hits in three innings as the starter with six strikeouts, two in each inning. Bell had three RBIs. Brex Caldwell walked three times. Denver Hamilton walked twice, had a hit and an RBI. Reed Kauk was 2-for 3 with a walk and three RBIs.

Red Oak beat Crowder 11-1 with a five-inning nohitter by Chase Pair, who threw 10 strikeouts and allowed a walk.

Red Oak scored four runs each in the third and fifth inning.

Chance Pair was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Chase Pair led off the bottom of the fourth with a home run. Bell walked three times. Caldwell walked, doubled and had two RBIs.

Red Oak will look to finish its regional title on Thursday at 4 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.
