Adams, Scott win Matt Place Memorial Tournament
Man of the Woods Experience
The Matt Place Memorial Charity Tournament took place on Saturday at Wister Lake with 44 boats on the water.
Jacques Adams and Christian Scott won with 15.66 pounds, earning $1,750.
Cody Ramsey and Robbie Brassfield were second with 15.02 pounds.
Sean Morrison and Justin Treat took third place with 14.9 pounds.
Eric Fairless caught the big bass, which weighed 4.53 pounds.
Upcoming tournament schedule
The LeFlore County Bass Club has its next club tournament on Saturday at Tenkiller Lake, launching from Chicken Creek.
The cost is $50 per angler.
The next LCBC Junior Bassmasters tournament will be May 7 on Wister Lake, launching from Ward’s Landing.
The cost is $25 per angler.
The next open tournament will be May 21 at Wister Lake, launching from Ward’s Landing.
The cost is $50 per angler.
Cavanal Killer
The Cavanal Killer will be on May 7, starting from Poteau Primary School.
Show yourself that you can make it to the top, and then remind yourself that you did each time you look at Cavanal Hill while riding around Poteau.

One more thing
While on a personal reconaissance mission in south Texas, I went to a wine and roses festival in Bryan, Texas, sampling wine and wandering around vineyards.
Someone pointed out to me the Toothache Tree (also known as Hercules’ Club).
The placard in front of this plant reads, “Chewing leaves or bark causes tingling numbness of mouth.”
I would not let the person by my side touch such a plant. By the way, this plant has five leaves. Another plant that has five leaves and causes an unseemly sensation is poison oak.
Gentlemen, don’t allow a romantic day in nature to end like that.
Also, last year, I went to the Mangum Rattlesnake Derby, but I missed getting on the caravan both days I was there.
The derby is this weekend, and I’m determined to get out on the caravan, see how the hunters catch the rattlers and take pictures.
I shall wear long pants so that I also prevent this weekend end with an unseemly tingling sensation.
