Local students win, place in EOSC’s Scholastic Contest

WILBURTON — Several local students either won or placed in Eastern Oklahoma State College’s 42nd Annual Scholastic Contest, which took place April 5.

In the English Literature category, it was a local sweep in Division I as McCurtain’s Zoey McClellan won the title, with Bokoshe’s Evan Rosa placing second and Red Oak’s Angela Lawrence taking third.

Red Oak’s Maddux Mabry was first and Cameron’s Addison Parker was third in Division I in the Algebra I category.

In the business mathematic­s category, Bokoshe’s Eli Fraser was first and McCurtain’s Kylie Oliver was third in Division I. Wister’s Brennon Blish was the champion in Division II.

Wister’s GiGi Moriles took home first place in Division II in both the English composite: short fiction category and the journalism category.

Smithville’s Adriane Williams was first and Red Oak’s Elle Fenton was second in Division I in the music history and literature category.

In the world history category, Bokoshe’s Matthew Weaver came in first and Red Oak’s Titus Montgomery in second in Division I. Red Oak’s Courtney Adams was runner-up in Division I in the American history category, Wister’s Brennon Blish was third in Division II of the American history category and Red Oak’s Maxx Montgomery finished third in Division I in the chemistry category.

In the music theory category, Smithville’s Savannah Parnell took home first place and Fenton came in second in Division I.

Red Oak’s Hayden White was first and Cameron’s Jadon Billingsle­y was third in Division I in the general business category, while Wister’s Audrey Eilers was runner-up in Division II.

White was runner-up and Cameron’s Kay Lerch was third in Division I in the journalism category. Bokoshe’s Kaylee Truax was second in Division I in the general science category, while Wister’s Lane Caudell was runner-up in Division II in the medical terminolog­y category and was third in the trigonomet­ry category.

In the forestry category, Smithville’s Karsyn Perrin was third in Division I and Wister’s Paisley Beshear placed first in Division II. Beshear also was runner-up in Division II in the English competitio­n: expository category, while Smithville’s Jalyn Estep was third in Division I in the English grammar and usage category.

Smithville’s James Conley won the Division I title in the Oklahoma history category, Red Oak’s Chase Pair was the runner-up in Division I in the physics category and Wister’s Isaac Scott was third in Division II in the plane geometry category.

Red Oak’s Chance Pair was runner-up in Division I in the elementary Spanish category, Bokoshe’s Hunter Jones was third in Division I in the computer science category and Wister’s Kaleb Siler was third in Division II in the democracy-American government category.
