Lynn’s homer helps Howe win district title vs. Talihina
Howe’s baseball team won the rubber match of its Class 2A district 14-6 agamst Talihina.
Howe (13-15) took a 4-0 lead with two runs in the first inning and a tworun single by Ky Lynn in the second inning.
A three-run fourth got Talihina within 4-3.
Back-to-back Howe batters were hit by pitch with two outs in the bottom of the fourth, putting the margin at 7-3.
Again, Talihina (6-15) came within a run in the top of the fifth.
However, the Lions ended it with seven runs in the bottom half of the inning, which was punctuated by Lynn’s three-run home run.
He finished 3-for-4 with six runs batted in. Garrett Smith was 2-for-3 with a walk, a triple and two RBIs. Smith threw seven strikeouts in four innings.
Talihina’s Kadin Davis was 2-for-3.
Nolan Baughman threw five stirkeouts in four relief innings.
Howe won Game 2 against Talihina on Thursday 9-0 after losing the first game to the Golden Tigers 5-2.
