Whitworth makes state, Poteau fifth in regional
Poteau’s Connor Whitworth made his second Class 4A state golf tournament, placing fifth in the Class 4A regional at Buffalo Rock Golf Course in Cushing on Monday.
Poteau placed fifth as a team with a score of 368. Ethan McBee hit 85. Nate Jordan hit 101. Wyatt Reece hit 105. Luke Culwell hit 104.
Whitworth will tee off in the first round of the state tournament at 8:08 a.m. at Boiling Springs Golf Course in Woodward on Monday. The final round of the 54-hole tournament will be on Tuesday.
Last Thursday, Poteau won the Pryor Tournament at Pryor Creek Country Club with a score of 343, beating Tulsa Edison by three strokes.
Whitworth was fourth, hitting 77. McBee shot 88. Jordan hit 84. Reed hit 94. Culwell hit 104.
