Personnel matters, real estate purchase on Poteau School Board agenda for Monday
The Poteau Public Schools Board of Education will have some personnel matters to deal with during its May meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at the Bert Corr Administration Building.
After a proposed executive session, the board is expected to take action on hiring former Poteau baseball coach Ronnie Sockey as the new boys basketball coach, Donald Patchin and Angela Rosa as adult education-Practical Applications In Language and Computers, Shannon Stubbs as SeventhEighth Grade Academic Center mathematics teacher, former Poteau softball player Katie Pierce-Stubbs as Seventh-Eighth Grade Academic Center English, language and arts teacher, Azure Hill and Misty Crandell as elementary school teachers, Shelby Johnston as a speech language pathology assistant, Tina Parsons as an adult education teacher, Shelley Gafford as Pansy Kidd Middle School custodian and Liz Collins as School Evaluation Committee secretary. With the exception of Gafford and Collins, all others would be certified staff hirings.
The board also will look to approve the resignations of teacher/coach Jamie Armstrong, teachers Abigail Hill and Macae Pipkins and high school secretary Janette Baxter.
The board also may approve the purchase of real estate, also slated to be discussed first in the executive session as well as look to take action on a resolution determining the maturities of, and setting a date, time and place for the sale of the $1,800,000 general obligation building bonds of the Poteau Public Schools district.
The board will look to approve contracts for service for the 2022-23 school year with Precision Drug for drug screening for students, Oklahoma State School Boards Association, Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center for telemedicine and business associate and Dr. Tiffany Ballard and Affiliates for professional learning communities (PLC) training.
The board also will look to approve an e-rate resolution to help fund school supplies, will look to approve teacher stipends, will look to approve board policy/policies and to approve a request for a waiver of accreditation regulations to provide flexibility in instructional scheduling at PHS.
Poteau Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Don Sjoberg will give his report, and Poteau Public Schools Chief Financial Officer Vallerie Martin will give her financial reports and encumbrances
