Sooners set for supers

NORMAN — No. 1 overall seed Oklahoma advanced to its 12th consecutiv­e and 15th overall NCAA Super Regional in record-breaking fashion, winning the Norman Regional Final 20-0 in five innings over Texas A&M on Sunday.

OU (52-2) was fueled by a nine-run first inning and three home runs, while sophomore Nicole May and junior Macy McAdoo combined on the shutout in the circle, allowing two hits to the Aggies (31-28).

The Sooners broke an NCAA postseason record for largest win in tournament history.

OU put up nine runs on five hits and three errors in the first inning. It was the third-highest run total in one frame of the season. Seven Sooners brought in at least one run in the frame, capped by redshirt senior Jocelyn Alo’s 27th home run of the season and 115th of her career.

OU advanced to Sunday’s NCAA Norman regional final with a 3-2 win against Texas A&M on Saturday.

The game was highlighte­d by a leadoff home run from sophomore Jayda Coleman in the first inning and complete-game, threehitte­r from redshirt senior Hope Trautwein.

OU opened the regional with a bang on Friday night, beating regional four-seed Prairie View A&M 14-0 in five innings.

May (4.0 IP) and Trautwein (1.0 IP) combined on a no-hitter. It marked OU’s school-record seventh nohitter of the season.

OU will host 16-seed Central Florida for the NCAA Norman Super Regional at Marita Hynes Field. Game 1 is Friday at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN 2.
