Courtney Upton and Adalyn Pride

-

Courtney Chlorin Upton, 28, and her baby girl Adalyn Rose Pride, 9 months, both of Wister gained their heavenly wings on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, outside of Talihina.

Courtney Upton was born Dec. 5, 1994, in Shawnee to parents Heidi Torres and David Upton.

She was a spunky, humorous child that loved playing and following her mom and dad around everywhere. One of her first words was “shoes,” and she loved to play dress up as well as run her own little play store. As she grew, she enjoyed school and teaching all her stuffed animals and baby dolls everything she learned. She went to school in Wewoka Elementary and later went to Albion Elementary, where she enjoyed playing basketball. She also attended Clayton High School.

She was a strong, vivacious young women and wonderful mother. Her children and family meant everything to her. She did her best to make everyone around her laugh, often serving as the glue that held everyone together. Courtney made time to stop and enjoy the little things in life that are so often taken for granted.

She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured all her children and embraced every moment with them, both the ones she birthed and the ones she took in as her own. Courtney viewed her stepchildren with the same love and affection. She was also looking forward to bringing another beautiful baby into the world with her significant other Traig Pride.

Tragically, Ava Pride, 3, of Wister also gained her heavenly wings on Wednesday, May 11, 2022. Although Courtney didn’t give birth to Ava, she still loved her with all her heart and will always be with her.

Adalyn Rose Pride was born Aug. 9, 2021, in Talihina to parents Courtney Upton and Traig Pride. She was a beautiful and happy baby girl. She loved cuddling with mommy and daddy and giggling at her siblings. She especially enjoyed when her mom sang her favorite song, “You Are My Sunshine.” She loved saying “hi” to her Owa and Papa Gregg on video calls. She loved to be with her family and got lots of hugs and kisses. She took pleasure in her fuzzy blankets and stuffed animals. Her big bubba Cayson taught her to play peek-a-boo, and it brought endless laughter in the home. She enjoyed bouncing in her walker and spreading love and joy wherever she went. The family takes comfort knowing that she is with her mommy, singing “You Are My Sunshine.”

In addition to her father Traig Pride, Adalyn is survived by her big brothers Cayson Thompson, Corbin Thompson and Kaden Pride. She will be dearly missed and remembered by all her great-grandparents, grandparents, great-aunts and great-uncles, aunts, uncles and many cousins, all of whom loved her very much.

Courtney Upton was proceeded in death by her grandfathers Marvin Morris and Charles Upton.

She is survived by her sons Cayson Thompson and Corbin Thompson who want everyone to know how much they loved their mom, her significant other Traig Pride and stepson Kaden Pride, grandmother Susan Morris, grandmother Shirley Upton, father David Upton, mother Heidi Torres and stepfather Gregg Torres, sister Chelsea Upton and brother-inlaw Casey Stanfield, sister Sierra Edwards and brother-in-law Robert Edwards and their children Becca, David, Chase and Amelia, aunt and uncle Colleen and George Strother, aunt and uncle Terra and James Bush, aunt and uncle Richard and Maryann Upton, a host of cousins and the countless friends and lives she touched.
