Grogan untouchabl­e as Whitesboro sweeps home tourney

Whitesboro’s softball team ended its first week with new head coach Peyton Walker successful­ly by winning its home tournament.

After posting a threeinnin­g perfect game with seven strikeouts in a 12-0 win against Indianola and a four-inning three-hitter against Cameron with six strikeouts on Thursday, Grogan threw a four-inning one-hitter with seven strikeouts against Pittsburg in the third round on

Friday.

Addison Walker went 2-for-2.

Madi Edwards had a hit, a walk and a run batted in.

Grogan pitched a five inning no-hitter against Pittsburg that afternoon as Whitesboro (4-0) won the finale 5-0.

She threw 43 of her 59 pitches (72.9 percent) for strikes. For the tourney, Grogan landed 142 of 195 pitched (72.8 percent) for strikes.

Grogan and Linley Collins both went 2-for-3. Walker hit a two-run triple in the second inning.

Walker went 5-for-8 with four RBIs in the four tourney games. Collins was 5-for-11 with four RBIs.

Panama took third in the tournament after taking a 5-3 loss to Pittsburg on Friday afternoon.

Haylee Holley hit a two-run triple in the bottom of the third to tie it 3-all, but Pittsburg scored two runs in the top of the fourth.

Holley drove in all three of Panama’s runs. Kayla Miller went 2-for-2.

To start the day, Panama (2-3) beat Indianola 4-3. Krista Dotson went 2-for-3.

Hayven Hoffman had a hit, two walks and an RBI. Jayden Timms walked twice.

Dotson threw six strikeouts in the four-inning game.

Whitesboro played at Arkoma on Monday. The girls in red, white and blue host Arkoma today at 5:30 p.m.

Panama plays Sallisaw Central today at 5 p.m. for its District 2A-6 opener.
