Howe’s Gracie Lute will play in the Oklahoma Coaches Associatio­n girls basketball small-school All-State Game on July 26 at 7 p.m. at Sapulpa High School.

Poteau wrestling coach Matt Kennedy will coach the Small East team in the OCA wrestling All-State meet on July 26 at 7 p.m. at Union High School in Tulsa.

Buffalo Valley’s Jace Hunter will play in the OCA boys basketball small-school All-State Game on July 27 at 7 p.m. at Sapulpa High School.

The Thursday Night Jackpot fishing series at Wister Lake, launching from Ward’s Landing, will have its next event on July 27 from 6-9 p.m.

The LeFlore County Bass Club will have its next open tournament on July 29 at Wister Lake, launching from Ward’s Landing.

The Wister Softball Dugout Club will have a fish fry and silent auction on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Wister school cafeteria. The cost is $10 and includes fish, fries, beans, hush puppies, cole slaw and a drink.

The Poteau Area Recreation­al Complex will have its third annual youth coed softball tournament on July 29. The cost is $100 for 6-and-under and 8-andunder teams and $125 for 10-and-under and 14-andunder teams.

Fall baseball and softball signups with the Poteau Area Recreation­al Complex are open. The cost is $300 per team. Fall registrati­on is done by teams only.

The season runs from Aug. 21 to Sept. 22. Games for 10-and-under will be on Mondays while 8-and-under will be Tuesdays, 12-and-under on Thursdays and T-Ball will be Tuesdays or Thursdays depending on the number of teams.

The Poteau rodeo will be Aug. 4-5 at Phil Gardenhire Arena. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger.

Signups start at 7 p.m. Mutton busting is at 7:30 p.m. Showtime is at 8 p.m. Events include bull riding saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, ranch bronc riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, breakaway roping, junior bull riding and junior barrel racing.

There will be a mullet contest on Aug. 12.

This rodeo is managed by NH Rodeo Company and sanctioned by the Cowboys Regional Rodeo Associatio­n.

The Heavener Roundup Club Rodeo will be Aug. 11-12 at the Cecil Leachman Arena. Mutton busting is at 7 p.m. each night. Grand entry is at 8 p.m.

Events include bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, ranch bronc riding, bull riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, breakaway roping, team roping, barrel racing and junior and pee wee barrel racing.
