Vikings win back-to-back

Carl Albert State College’s baseball team won 7-6 on Friday against Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa on Friday to finish a three-game series at Mark Pollard Field.

After the Mavericks scored in the top of the first inning, CASC scored five runs in the second and two in the fourth. Rhen Rutledge hit a three-run single in the second inning and a two-run home run in the fourth.

Berrick Leu hit 2-for-4. Aiden Almeida threw six strikeouts while allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks in seven innings.

NOC-Tonkawa scored a run in the seventh, one in the eighth and two in the ninth to get within a run. After the Mavs got a tworun single with two outs in the top of the ninth, a flyout ended the game.

CASC was swept in a home doublehead­er on Thursday against NOCTonkawa.

CASC lost the first game 12-8, trailing 10-2 by the top of the third inning.

Leu, Rutledge and Eli

Gilreath each homered. Rutledge went 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Randon Ray hit 2-for-2 with two walks.

The Vikings (28-21, 1314 Region 2) rallied late in Game 2, but lost 18-12.

After trailing 12-4 through six innings, CASC scored three runs in the seventh and five in the eighth to get within 16-12.

Leu hit 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs. Trey Migi hit 2-for-4 with a

CASC beat TCS PostGrad 5-3 on Monday. After trailing 2-0 through five innings, the Vikings posted a four-run sixth to lead 4-2.

TCS scored a run in the bottom of the sixth, and CASC added a run in the top of the seventh.

Alex Nirider hit 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Conner Watson allowed a hit in three innings. Brooks Herrera had a hit and two RBIs. Game 2 ended after press time.

The Vikings play at Murray State College in Tishomingo on May 3 at noon, followed by a doublehead­er at Murray State College on May 4, starting at noon.
