Support Live Music

- By PDN Sports Editor Tom Firme

Terry Joe Wiles was unable to compose his weekly music column due to a hospitalization. Please pray for him. In his stead, I’m updating everyone so no one forgets these upcoming live music events.

The Monroe Old Timers Day will be May

4. On May 3, there will be a banquet at the school.

The Steel Horse Rally will be May 3-4 in Fort Smith, Ark.

Heavener’s second annual Fish Fry and Crawdad Boil will be May

18. Earl Hearon and the Sound of Country will provide the live music.

The Red Dirt Blues Society will put on a concert May 29, and Crocky’s Cafe in Hackett, Ark., will have live music on their outside stage.

This past Wednesday, I was able to meet Eric Holmes, Evan Hoffman and Blake Pelayo of the Double E and B Band as they performed at Jazz Night at the Museum with

University of ArkansasFort Smith professor Alex Zacharella and the Al Grzech Band. As Pelayo said that night, the trio of saxophonists that makes Double E and B brings great passion to jazz.

All three of them are UAFS students, and they bring that kind of energy like John Legend’s character in “La La Land,” who said, “Jazz is about the future.”

Jazz Night at the LeFlore County Museum has had good crowds in the last two months. It’s typically the fourth week of the month, usually on Tuesday, but look out for updates on the May date.

I can’t say anything about Terry Joe’s status for next week, but relay live music information to him at (918) 649-5739 or e-mail me at tj.wiles61@ outlook.com or to me at sports@poteaudailynews. com so that we can keep it flowing.

All that’s left to say is support live music.
