Commissioners approve plat map for Shady Point housing addition
The Board of Commissioners for LeFlore County approved the plat map for a new housing addition located in Shady Point in a regular meeting held Monday morning.
Britt Minks presented the board with the map, which they approved unanimously.
The board also passed a motion that will allow the Trustees of the LeFlore County Public Facilities Authority to take on debt by issuing bonds and notes.
This would be at a discount, and the aggregate principal par amount would not exceed $5,500,000.
These funds would go toward building equipment, renovations, and remodeling projects for Panama Public Schools. It also allows for the purchasing of furniture and fixtures, and establishes a reserve fund.
Kelli Ford, LeFlore County Clerk, said the LeFlore County Public Facilities Authority was formed to help the school district pay bonds back, and that this will not be funds given by the county.
The commissioners decided to table the awarding of a bid for the purchase of a day cab semi truck and a belly dump trailer for district two.
Sarah Jordan, Assistant District Attorney, said that since this year is an election year for Josh Blaylock, current commissioner for district two, a statute prevents him from being able to take on debt. If someone else is elected to the district two seat, they would then be burdened with that debt,
Jordan said.
The issue was tabled for further review of the statute, and Jordan said she would send information about the statute to each commissioner.
The board too action on several other items, including:
Approving a resolution to advertise a bid notice and accept sealed bids for the six month LeFlore County Highway materials from July through December.
Approving a resolution to advertise a bid notice and accept sealed bids for the publication of the LeFlore County Commissioners’ monthly proceedings and paid claims.
Approving a notice to sell county property Poteau KCS addition block 5 lot 6 in the amount of $809.53.
Approving the disposing of equipment records as provided by districts 1 and 2.
