The Harder They Fall

I was totally disgusted at what you called your World’s 100 Largest Yachts [“Hitting the Big Time,” August 2014]. All you showed was the “butt end” of No. 1, not even a side view and, of course, she was in dry dock. What a farce. I just so happen to save these editions for length comparisons and falling positions in the order. This is what you have sunk to in three years. In 2011 you published a quality issue with 29 pictures of various yachts. Numbers 1, 26, and 39 were two full page beautiful layouts. Also eye-appealing were nine pictures of yachts featured, with half page photos that showed truly impressive size and detail.

For the readers who haven’t the pleasure of past issues that, may I say, have been reduced in the last few years to this latest attempt at what I consider “smoke and mirrors,” I feel bad. It is every powerboater’s dream to see these impressive yachts even if it is just at the dock, let alone to walk the decks. I just have one question: What were you thinking? I could go on and on about getting conned by the 100 biggest bull, but I leave you with this. Your next issue on the 100 largest yachts better be full of pictures and detailed information or your reputation as a first-class publication will take a huge grounding.

Our readers want to know about the latest boats of all sizes, what equipment they should install, and how to fix and enjoy their boats. The days of dreaming are over Mr. Devin. In our opinion time is the new currency. Seize the day and go out and enjoy your boat.
