Counterfeit apparel, bags found; 2 held
A couple was arrested this week on suspicion of selling counterfeit handbags and clothing items out of their home in North Long Beach, authorities said Friday.
Long Beach police served a search warrant in the 5000 block of Pacific Avenue Wednesday morning and seized an estimated $63,000 worth of counterfeit goods, spokeswoman Arantxa Chavarria said. Photos showed counterfeit items that appeared as if they were from Louis Vuitton, Chanel and others.
Investigators arrested Juan Francisco Mendozaramos, 38, at the home on suspicion of manufacturing or selling counterfeit goods, Chavarria said.
His girlfriend, 33-year-old Crystal Acosta Mendoza, was found near Del Amo Boulevard and Oregon Avenue. She was carrying a loaded revolver, which was seized after police found her, Chavarria said.
Both suspects have been released from jail.
Police received a tip about the sale of counterfeit goods in January, Chavarria said, and detectives determined the goods were coming from the suspects’ home.
