Ligaya “Lily” Evaristo Gruspe
Ligaya “Lily” Evaristo Gruspe (76) of Signal Hill, CA, passed away on January 16, 2021. She was born on August 30, 1944 in Bacolor,
Pampanga, Philippines. Lily graduated from the University of Santo
Tomas with a B.S. in Nursing. She moved to the U.S. as an RN exchange visitor in New Jersey in 1968, Michigan in 1969, and then passed the CA boards in 1970 before moving to California in 1971. While vacationing with nursing friends in Honolulu, Hawaii on Aug. 20, 1974, she met her husband Rolando Gruspe where they fell in love at first sight. 2 weeks later, they married on Sept. 3, 1974. She worked as a nurse for 44 years. In 2009 she earned a Master’s Degree of Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture and began her practice as a CA Licensed Acupuncturist in 2010. She expanded her license to practice in the entire U.S. when she took the national boards in 2011 and became a member of NCCAOM. She finished her PhD in Acupuncture at American Liberty University in 2014. Predeceased by her parents, Francisco Evaristo Sr. and Bernadina Canlas; and siblings, Liberato Sr., Tomas Rizal, Querubin, Roy Sr., and Rustico, she is survived by her husband, Rolando Gruspe, children, Jennifer, Roland Jr., and Jason;; grandchildren, Ashley Dizon, Jazlyn Dizon, Jacob Dizon, Penelope Tram-Gruspe, and Maya Tram-Gruspe; and siblings, Luding, Natividad, Belen, and Francisco Jr. On Thursday, March 11, 2021, a viewing (12PM-12:30PM) and mass (12:45PM-2PM) will be held at All Souls Cemetery & Mortuary, 4400 Cherry Ave., Long Beach, CA 90807. Due to public health restrictions, no more than 10 people may occupy the mortuary at a time. We kindly ask only immediate family (max 50 people) attend the indoor viewing due to the 30 min window. Both the mass and burial service will be held outside and is open to all. The graveside burial service will be held immediately following the mass. Attendees must wear face coverings and socially distance during all services.
