Man found wounded in driveway dies

A man was found shot in a driveway in Santa Ana and later died at a hospital Friday night, authorities said.

Santa Ana police were called to the 1400 block of West Elder Avenue just before 11:30 p.m. after the victim was found near his car with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

A motive wasn’t yet known. The victim was not believed to be a gang member, but the suspects could have been, Santa Ana Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said. It wasn’t known if the victim lived in the neighborhood where he was shot.

The victim’s identity was not released pending notification of his relatives. He was believed to be in his late 40s or early 50s, Bertagna said.
