AB 1084 on its way to California Assembly

- — Ron Kleiser, Garden Grove

Re “Bill eyes unisex toy departments” (March 9):

A unisex toy department? Ridiculous. I hope the writers of AB 1084 are voted out.

I never thought that this country would even consider such a stupid idea. Many girls wear boys jeans; they are more comfortable.

It used to be that if clothes buttoned to the left they were for girls; boys buttoned to the right. No one even pays attention to that anymore.

We have countries at war, people are starving and our country (already in debt that is frightening) is spending precious time (and taxpayer money) on insane issues, not to mention Potato Head and most outrageous, Dr. Seuss. God help us all. — Barbara Benun, Laguna Woods

Local hate crimes

I wish to apologize to Linda Nguyen and the others for what some ignorant individuals have said or done to them.

I well remember as a 10-yearold during World War II being told that some other kids could not play with us as we were Germans and must be Nazis. Even worse, we were Catholics. Never mind that my father fought in France during World War I as a corporal in the U.S. Army. We must do as Jesus himself said: “Father, forgive them, as they know not what they do.” If anyone is to blame for COVID-19, it is the Chinese dictators, not the average citizen of any Asian nation.

Civil rights of 56 years ago instead of the present

On the front page of the March 8 newspaper appears the article headlined “Bloody Sunday memorial honors giants of civil right movement.”

In the article we read that activists are remembering an event that took place 56 years ago.

One must ask if the leaders of these memorials are looking for attention or just want to create racial problems. — Chuck Trout, Huntington Beach

Royals’ interview with Oprah was revealing

Scintillating, yet revealing, the anachronistic mindset of the royal ramily in England.

The interview of the couple with Oprah Winfrey was most compelling in depth of the conversations. No wonder they dissociated themselves and moved to California. I wish them well and Godspeed. — William Lewis, Irvine
