Violations

-

the contributions were incorrectly reported as loans by the campaign treasurer, who has since completely rectified the situation,” said an email from Tim Lineberger, Liddi's campaign spokesman.

Lineberger called the violation filing a political move by Liddi's opponent, Prosecutor Doug Haubert.

“In what is likely not a coincidence, multiple candidates somehow wound up with the same exact reporting mistake,” Lineberger said, “and are now being unfairly targeted with potential enforcement action.”

Lineberger went on to claim that Haubert was stonewalling a request for salary increase records, and that he had attempted to influence the city clerk over Liddi's ballot designation as a gang prosecutor.

Haubert said Saturday that he couldn't comment until he had researched the claims.

Miles was accused of loaning his campaign $20,000.

“On March 8 2022, I made a personal loan to my campaign of 10,000 USD,” Miles said in a statement. “In following with campaign rules, I processed the loan through my campaign treasurer. On April 27, I made another loan of 5,000 USD and an additional donation of 10,000 USD. While I provided one check, I noted to my campaign treasurer, via phone and on the check, that I was providing 5,000 USD as a loan and 10,000 USD as a donation. My campaign treasurer incorrectly coded the 10,000 USD donation as a loan.”

All three candidates said amended Form 460s would be filed. On the city clerk's website, amended reports for Schipske and Miles are posted. An amended report for Liddi had not been posted by the end of business on Friday.
