Miller Children's Hospital Long Beach Auxiliary celebrated its 77th annual meeting and officer installation on June 21. There were 50 members at the Long Beach Yacht Club, as President Roxie Hause was installed.

“Healing Hearts” has been adopted as the group's new theme. “Hearts” represents “Healing, Encouraging, Amazing, Respected, Thoughtful and Successful,” said Parliamentarian Linda Dilday. In keeping with the “Healing Hearts” theme, outgoing President Leslie Sclauch thanked members for their support and noted that healing is needed for everyone involved with the hospital during the pandemic.

Carol England presented four new members with pins: Carol Bliss, Kathy Green, Gloria Villalobos and Meagan Flynn. Additional rubies were added to the pins of Mary Jo Crites, Cheryl Rodi, Beverly Crawford, Barbara Cortez, Maryann Dilday, Bob Milich, Nancy Piazza, Betty Johnson, Sally Lane and Gloria Neal. Those who received diamonds for their pins were Lucille Basye, Lisa Maloney, Jane Nielson, Patt Allen, Luz Shaw, Vicki Firestone, Lois Fleischhuller, Shirley Dement, Pat Peters, Kathy, Milich, Jeanette, Gillies, Leslie Sclauch, Carol England and Margie Penny. Luz's daughters, Amy Salazar and Alana Kaleikini, were present to receive her diamond in memory of her.

The group generously donated $96,000 — from Donna Rogers and proceeds from the gift shop — to be spent on the new adolescent gym for the Cherese Mari Laulhere Children's Village. They also gave $200,000 for the Children's Village, which came from the Auxilary account.

Chet Jablonski's team took home the title, while the group from South Bay Lexus came in a close second. All of the golfers enjoyed a delicious dinner in the Clubhouse. The raffle was the talk of the tournament, with one golfer walking away with an 85-inch LED Smart TV and another with a giant cooler filled with spirits from Long Beach's own Portuguese Bend.
