Holiday closures

The holiday season is upon us. That means festivitie­s and fun, but also a lack of available services. Christmas Day and New Year's Day are both on Sundays this year, meaning government agencies will observe the holidays on the following Mondays. Here is what will be open and closed, and what services will operate during the holidays.

Open today and Monday

• Fire stations and lifeguard stations.

• All city parks and trails (excluding El Dorado Regional Park and El Dorado Nature Center).

• Long Beach Airport.

• Main police station front desk.

• Gas services dispatch (562-570-2140) open 24/7 for emergency calls.

• Water/sewer dispatch (562-570-2390) open 24/ 7for emergency calls.

Closed Monday

• Billie Jean King Main

Library, all branch libraries, including library offices (digital resources available 24 hours, 7 days a week).

• BizCare Hotline.

• Building and safety services, including inspection­s, plan reviews and the Permit Center.

• City Hall.

• City Prosecutor's office.

• Citizen Police Complaint Commission.

• Code Enforcemen­t services.

• El Dorado Nature Center.

• Energy Resources offices.

• Fire headquarte­rs, support services, fire prevention and operations.

• Health department and facilities.

• Homeless Services Outreach Line.

• Housing Authority.

• LB Resource Hotline.

• Long Beach Airport administra­tion offices.

• Long Beach Animal Care Services and spcaLA.

• Park offices and community park facilities.

Most state and federal services and facilities also will be closed on the Mondays after Christmas and New Year's Day, including courthouse­s and post offices. In Long Beach, there will be no scheduled street sweeping or enforcemen­t of street sweeping violations on Monday Street sweeping will resume its regular schedule Tuesday. Parking enforcemen­t, though, still will occur, unless a parking meter reads “Exempt on Holidays.”

Public health

All vaccinatio­n sites for flu, COVID-19 and monkeypox, as well as all COVID-19 testing sites, will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

But a couple of COVID-19 testing sites will be open briefly on the days before and after those holidays. Those sites are:

• The COVID-19 testing site at Long Beach City College's Pacific Coast Campus will be open from 9:30a.m. to 1p.m. on Saturday and Dec. 31, as will the COVID-19 testing site at Cabrillo High School.

• The COVID-19 testing site at Veterans Stadium will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2:30 to 5 p.m.

All vaccinatio­n sites for flu, COVID-19 and monkeypox will be closed on those days. The testing and vaccinatio­n clinics at the Pacific Coast Campus will also be closed from Tuesday to Friday for parking lot constructi­on. The COVID-19testing site at Cabrillo High School will also be closed Tuesday because of the school holiday closure.

Public transporta­tion

Long Beach Transit, Los Angeles County Metropolit­an Transporta­tion Authority, Los Angeles Department of Transporta­tion and Orange County Transporta­tion Authority services operate on a Sunday schedule today and Monday.

Metrolink trains operate on their usual Sunday schedule today and on a Saturday schedule for the observed Christmas holiday Monday. Norwalk Transit and Torrance Transit do not operate today or Monday. LADOT's Commuter Express buses do not operate Monday.
