Fish are on the menu during Lent at these restaurants
As usual during Lent, which begins Wednesday, fish sandwiches and shrimp are getting prominent placement on chain restaurant menus.
Here are some restaurants that have added limited-time offers to their menus and also what's going on at chains that specialize in fish and seafood.
• Carl's Jr.: The chain is spotlighting a Pankobreaded fish sandwich made with pollock fillet.
• Del Taco: The Lake Forest-based has brought back its Crispy Jumbo Shrimp in tacos and burritos with a new Buttery Garlic Parmesan sauce that is also available on fries or for dipping.
• Freddy's Steakburgers: A new Deluxe Crispy Fish Sandwich is made with flounder, lettuce, pickles, American cheese and tartar sauce.
• King's Fish House: California Dungeness crab and wild California spiny lobster are in season, according to the full-service chain's website.
• Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen: The menu is featuring a Shrimp Tackle Box with eight pieces of shrimp and a biscuit for $6 at participating restaurants. It has also brought back its Flounder Fish Sandwich in both original and spicy flavors.
• Red Lobster: Lobster and shrimp tacos are new on the full service chain's Lobsterfest menu, available for a limited time. Other new items include shrimp-topped sirloin and a Maine lobster tail duo.
• Rubio's Coastal Grill: Limited-time menu items available through May 31 are a Baja Chimichurri Red Shrimp Bowl; a Baja Chimichurri Red Shrimp Two Taco Plate; and a Puerto Nuevo Burrito with langostino.
• Wahoo's Fish Tacos: Menu includes shrimp and salmon bowls as well as tacos and burritos.
• Water Grill: Sprny lobster is in season, according to the chain's website.
• Wendy's: The fast-food chain is bringing back its Crispy Panko Fish Sandwich for a limited time.
• Wienerschnitzel: The hot dog chain is currently offering a Shrimp Po'Boy sandwich for a limited time.
