Giolito leads the White Sox in a combined one-hitter

Lucas Giolito and four relievers combined on a one-hitter, and the Chicago White Sox beat the visiting Philadelph­ia Phillies 3-0 on Tuesday night to split a doublehead­er.

Brandon Marsh had the Phillies' only hit, an opposite-field double to left on reliever Aaron Bummer's first pitch of the eighth.

Giolito, the former Harvard-Westlake standout, was pulled after throwing 102 pitches in six innings. He struck out seven, walked one and hit a batter. Kendall Graveman retired the side on eight pitches in the seventh, Bummer got two outs in the eighth and Reynaldo Lopez set down the last four batters, striking out three.

Jake Burger hit his fourth homer in five games, a three-run shot to left field in the first inning off lefthander Bailey Falter (1-2).

• In the first game, Josh Harrison homered and drove in four runs as the Phillies won 7-4.

BRAVES 8, PADRES 1 ❯❯ Spencer Strider and three relievers combined on a four-hitter, and Matt Olson, Ozzie Albies and Sean Murphy each homered for NL Eastleadin­g Atlanta, which beat San Diego for its eighth straight win.

The Padres have lost six of seven. They avoided their third straight shutout when Juan Soto's fielder's choice in the eighth brought in Trent Grisham.

Strider (2-0), who had nine strikeouts in six innings, held the Padres hitless until Soto singled on his 90th pitch, with one out in the sixth, on a grounder that was deflected by second baseman Albies. Until then, Strider had allowed only three walks and a hit batter. RAYS 10, REDS 0 ❯❯ Taylor Walls went 4 for 5 with two homers and four RBIs, and rookie right-hander Taj Bradley dazzled in his second start as Tampa Bay won at Cincinnati.

Yandy Diaz hit a threerun homer for the Rays, who have homered in each of their first 18 games this season.

The 22-year-old Bradley (2-0) struck out nine and allowed three hits and a walk in 5 1/3 innings.

MARLINS 4, GIANTS 2 ❯❯ Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit a threerun homer in the fourth inning and Miami beat visiting San Francisco, which lost starter Alex Wood because of a left hamstring strain in the third.

Edward Cabrera (1-1) held the Giants to two runs and six hits in six innings. TIGERS 1, GUARDIANS 0, GAME 2 ❯❯ Riley Greene hit a sixth-inning homer and Eduardo Rodriguez pitched eight stellar innings, helping Detroit beat Cleveland to sweep a home doublehead­er.

Rodriguez (1-2) allowed four hits, no walks and struck out 10 as the Tigers won their fifth in a row.

• Kerry Carpenter hit a solo home run with two outs in the ninth of the opener, lifting the Tigers to a 4-3 win.

ORIOLES 1, NATIONALS 0 ❯❯ Dean Kremer allowed only four hits in 6 2/3 innings and Austin Hays singled home the game's only run in the fourth to lift Baltimore at Washington.

RANGERS 12, ROYALS 2 ❯❯ Marcus Semien hit a three-run homer during a five-run sixth inning, Adolis Garcia added another three-run homer in the eighth, and Texas pounced on host Kansas City.

The Royals lost their fifth straight and fell to 1-11 at home.

Nathan Eovaldi (2-2) went six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out five.

BLUE JAYS 4, ASTROS 2 ❯❯ Matt Chapman had a home run and a double and Chris Bassitt carried a shutout into the seventh inning as Toronto won at Houston.

Bassitt (2-2) held the Astros in check for 6 1/3 innings, allowing just three hits and a walk while striking out five.

Bassitt had given up 13 runs in 15 1/3 innings in his first three starts.

DIAMONDBAC­KS 8, CARDINALS 7 ❯❯ Gabriel Moreno's three-run homer capped a six-run fourth inning against Jordan Montgomery, and Arizona held on to beat host St. Louis.

Willson Contreras homered twice for St. Louis.
