Memorial Day closures

Memorial Day weekend is here — capped by the official holiday Monday.

And you know what that means: Many government offices and services will be closed.

Federal buildings and services, such as courthouse­s and mail delivery, will be shuttered Monday. Most government buildings and services also will be closed statewide and in Los Angeles County.

As for Long Beach, here is a list of facilities and services that will be open and closed in honor and remembranc­e of military personnel who have died while serving in the U.S. armed forces.

Here's what's open during regular business hours Monday:

• All City parks and trails (excluding El Dorado Nature Center)

• El Dorado Regional Park

• Fire stations and lifeguard stations

• Long Beach Airport

• Marina offices (Alamitos Bay Marina, Shoreline Marina)

• Main police station front desk

• Refuse and Recycling collection

• Gas services dispatch (562-570-2140), open 24/7 for emergency calls

• Water/sewer dispatch (562-570-2390), open 24/7 for emergency calls

What will be closed Monday:

• City Hall, offices and public services

• Billie Jean King Main Library, all branch libraries, including offices (digital resources available 24/7)

• BizCare Hotline, 562570-4BIZ (4249)

• Building and safety services, including inspection­s, plan reviews and permit center

• Citizen Police Complaint Commission

• City-operated COVID-19 testing and vaccinatio­n sites

• City Prosecutor's Office

• Code enforcemen­t services

• Energy Resources offices

• El Dorado Nature Center (regularly closed Mondays)

• Fire headquarte­rs, support services, fire prevention and operations, including Marine Safety Administra­tion

Street sweeping

There will be no scheduled street sweeping or enforcemen­t of street sweeping violations Monday. Street sweeping will resume its regular schedule Tuesday.

Parking enforcemen­t

Citywide parking violations, including parking meters, will be enforced on Monday, unless the meter says “Exempt on Holidays.” The days and hours of enforcemen­t are displayed inside the meters.
