Memorial Day closures
Memorial Day weekend is here — capped by the official holiday Monday.
And you know what that means: Many government offices and services will be closed.
Federal buildings and services, such as courthouses and mail delivery, will be shuttered Monday. Most government buildings and services also will be closed statewide and in Los Angeles County.
As for Long Beach, here is a list of facilities and services that will be open and closed in honor and remembrance of military personnel who have died while serving in the U.S. armed forces.
Here's what's open during regular business hours Monday:
• All City parks and trails (excluding El Dorado Nature Center)
• El Dorado Regional Park
• Fire stations and lifeguard stations
• Long Beach Airport
• Marina offices (Alamitos Bay Marina, Shoreline Marina)
• Main police station front desk
• Refuse and Recycling collection
• Gas services dispatch (562-570-2140), open 24/7 for emergency calls
• Water/sewer dispatch (562-570-2390), open 24/7 for emergency calls
What will be closed Monday:
• City Hall, offices and public services
• Billie Jean King Main Library, all branch libraries, including offices (digital resources available 24/7)

• Building and safety services, including inspections, plan reviews and permit center
• Citizen Police Complaint Commission
• City-operated COVID-19 testing and vaccination sites

• El Dorado Nature Center (regularly closed Mondays)

Street sweeping
There will be no scheduled street sweeping or enforcement of street sweeping violations Monday. Street sweeping will resume its regular schedule Tuesday.
Parking enforcement
Citywide parking violations, including parking meters, will be enforced on Monday, unless the meter says “Exempt on Holidays.” The days and hours of enforcement are displayed inside the meters.
