Memorial Day at the Ronald Reagan Presidenti­al Library

and Museum: The Memorial Day program begins with a musical tribute by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Concert Band, 9a.m., followed by the program with the Royal High School AFJ ROTC Color Guard, an invocation by Naval Base Ventura County Chaplian Cmdr. Remember and Honor — Memorial Day Program in South Pasadena: The observance includes Boy Scout Troop 333Color Guard, the National Anthem sung by Miranda Miller, recognitio­n of military service persons, 9a.m. Guest speaker is Brock Milhorn, a Navy veteran and peer support specialist with Veteran Peer Access Network. Canoga Park Memorial Day Parade: An opening ceremony, 10a.m., followed by the 31st parade, “Saluting the Price of Freedom,” 11a.m. The parade includes bands, floats, local elected officials and a flyover by 146th Airlift Wing, a unit of the California Air National Guard, stationed in Oxnard. Eternal Valley Memorial Park— Santa Clarita — Memorial Day

Ceremony: The ceremony theme is “Purple Heart Recipients,” 10 a.m. The event includes a flyover by the Condor Squadron and Purple Heart recipient Bill Hutton, United States Marine Corps (retired), who served during the Vietnam War (1965-1969), is the keynote speaker. Green Hills Memorial ParkRancho Palos Verdes — Memorial Day Observance: The event includes a Color Guard, music by bagpipe and military bands, flyovers (civilian and military), skydivers, a 21-gun salute and the playing of taps, 10a.m. The keynote speaker is Col. David W. Sutherland, United States Army (retired). Beach: The City of Redondo Beach, Redondo Elks Lodge #1378and the Redondo Beach Veterans Memorial Task Force present the observatio­n that includes an invocation and benedictio­n by Chaplain David A. Godley II, USAF, Los Angeles Air Force Base, music by the Redondo Beach Union High School Wind Ensemble, and keynote speaker Rear Adm. Larry Watkins, USN, deputy commander of the United States Third Fleet, 1 p.m. A barbecue, presented by the Redondo Beach Elks Lodge, follows the event (free for veterans, current members of the military, firefighte­rs and police officers; $5for the public; at the Elks building parking lot that is adjacent to Veterans Park). Names on the Wall — Torrance Historical Society: The society presents a reading of the 146 names on the wall — including those who served from World War I to the Iraq and Afghanista­n wars — at 2 p.m., and also, following the program, a documentar­y “”Names on the Wall” by Dennis Kwong at the Torrance Historical Museum (1345Post Ave.).
