SUMMERTIME AND THE LIVIN'S EASY

Enjoy outdoor concerts and movie screenings with warmest months on horizon

Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of summer. As such, here is a list of summer concerts and movies to catch in Long Beach this summer.

Concerts

El Dorado Nature Center Summer Concerts Series: Bring family and friends to El Dorado Nature Center, 7550 E. Spring St., and enjoy an afternoon filled with fun and music. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., live music from 7 to 8p.m. The Salty Suites, July 14. Sligo Rages, July 28. Corday, Aug. 11. JP McDermott and Western Bop, Aug. 25. Attendees are encouraged to bring low chairs or blankets and a picnic dinner. The concerts are available at no cost, but a $5 donation to the Friends of El Dorado Nature Center is encouraged. Rising Japan MusicFest 2023: Hosted by Japan Product Promotion, Rising Japan MusicFest is an outdoor music festival celebratin­g Japanese music in the Los Angeles area. The mission of the event is to promote the enjoyment of Japanese music, culture, drinks and food. From noon to 10 p.m. July 22 and from noon to 8 p.m. July 23. at Marina Green Park, 400 E. PCH Raising Decibels, Live Music Concert Series: 2nd & PCH invites the community to PCH Raising Decibels, a live music concert Series on Seaport Way. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets. Seating is first come, first served starting at 11 a.m. Concerts are held from 5to 8p.m. on select Thursdays. Schedule: New Doubt, a No Doubt tribute band, on July 20; Tomorrows Bad Seeds on July 27; Blue Breeze Band on Aug. 3; Rod the Mod, Never a Dull Moment Tribute Band on Aug. 10; Start Me Up! Rolling Stones Tribute Band on Oct. 5; Kenny Metcalf as Elton The Early Years on Oct. 12; and Bruno and the Hooligans (Bruno Mars tiibute band) on Oct. 26. Summer Time in the SLV: Shoreline Village's Summer Concerts, 401-435 Shoreline Village Drive. Free music every Saturday and Sunday, Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. 1-5 p.m. and 6-10 p.m. Saturdays. and 1-5p.m. Sundays. Movies

2nd & PCH, 6400 E. Pacific Coast Highway, in partnershi­p with One Medical will host a showing of Disney's “Dumbo” (2019) on Friday at sunset. Free airbrush tattoos on Seaport Way from 5 to 8 p.m. Pets are welcome. The launch of the six-week PCH Movies & Moonlight series will be on July 14. 2ndandpch.com.

Movies in the Park: Presented by Signal Hill Petroleum and Partners of Parks. Visit longbeach.gov/park for upcoming dates and times. Moonlight Movies on the Beach: All movies start at sunset (8-8:30 p.m.).
