Yoga streaming services
When you can’t make it to a yoga studio, it can now come to you. There’s been a surge in health and fitness streaming services that, for a fee, bring hundreds or thousands of expert-led routines to your smartphone or computer. So the Good Housekeeping Wellness Lab evaluated 25 (yes, there are tons out there!), and we asked the analysts to share the top-tested programs with a strong yoga component. Dozens of at-home testers helped select these two standouts.
This simply designed app has over 3,700 classes, not just in yoga but in Pilates and meditation too. There are also more than 80 programs—multiple classes scheduled over a week or more—such as “Pose Goals” and “Navigating Menopause.”
Beginners and advanced practitioners are equally welcome. You can search for classes with filters such as level, duration, body part, required equipment, and more.
WHAT TESTERS SAID: They loved being able to take classes at their own pace and rated the clarity of instructors highly. One commented, “Glo encouraged me to exercise and gave me a tool that can guide me but let me work at my own speed.” $18 per month; 15-day free trial, glo.com
A subscription to Grokker gives you access to a wide variety of classes in yoga, fitness (including barre, Pilates, and cardio classes), cooking, and other areas of interest such as stress reduction and better sleep. You can start by taking a wellness quiz that can help you create a personalized program of videos curated to your needs. The easy-to-use dashboard also includes challenges you may want to join (like a month of mindfulness) and a calendar showing your schedule and activity.
Grokker offers over 4,000 videos in all—940 in yoga—and they’re simple to sort by level, subject, and duration. The platform also offers programs that last a few weeks if you’d prefer to take classes that progress over a period of time. WHAT TESTERS SAID: They rated the platform highly for ease of setting up an
account and their satisfaction with the exercises. They appreciated being able to schedule classes ahead of time to help keep themselves accountable, and many commented that they liked the wide variety of options in one place. $15 per month; 15-day free trial, grokker.com/individuals
