Con­roe Art League Re­cep­tion Host­ing Three Ex­cit­ing Ex­hibits

An Artist Re­cep­tion high­light­ing THREE spe­cial ex­hibits in one, with fea­tured Artist Kathy Fediw, show­ing art­work from her se­ries “Land-River-Sky”; a spe­cial ex­hibit of Art in Bloom with a flo­ral in­ter­pre­ta­tion of artist Karen Blake's paint­ing” A Time to Dance”; and last but not least, the rib­bon win­ners from the Con­roe Art League Spring Judged Show. Join us on Fri­day, March 10, 4:00 to 8:00 PM at The Gallery at the Made­ley Build­ing, 127 Si­mon­ton, Con­roe TX 77301. Con­roe Art League is par­tially sup­ported by a Grant from the Con­roe Com­mis­sion on the Arts. The ex­hibit is a self-guided walk­ing tour with maps avail­able at the Gallery.

As Fea­tured Artist, lo­cal painter Kathy Fediw will be show­ing se­lect art­work from her se­ries “Land-River-Sky” at the Con­roe Art League Gallery from March 7 through April 4, 2017. This se­ries of im­pres­sion­is­tic paint­ings in both oils and pas­tels ex­plores the ever-chang­ing Amer­i­can land­scape, with many fea­tur­ing the skies, rivers and land of Texas and our lo­cal area. Fediw fre­quently paints out­doors en plein aire and her paint­ings are marked with a loose painterly style, ex­pres­sive brush strokes and lu­mi­nous colors. Her work has been in­spired by im­pres­sion­ist and postim­pres­sion­ist artists in­clud­ing Van Gogh, Emil Nolde, Odilon Re­don, Renoir and some of the lesser-known Nordic artists. Kathy has stud­ied with some of Amer­ica's finest artists. She won Best of Show in her first art com­pe­ti­tion and has gone on to win nu­mer­ous awards in other art shows and con­tests. Two of her paint­ings were fea­tured in the ju­ried show “Art of the Pas­tel 2016” and she is a ju­ried mem­ber of the Pas­tel So­ci­ety of Amer­ica. She is also a mem­ber of the Con­roe Art League, Wood­lands Art League, Amer­i­can Im­pres­sion­ists So­ci­ety, and Pas­tel So­ci­ety of South­east Texas. On March 31 and April 1 Fediw will be teach­ing a work­shop, “Paint­ing the Land­scape with Pas­tels,” for the Con­roe Art League. This is a rare op­por­tu­nity to learn from a master and reg­is­tra­tions are be­ing ac­cepted at the Con­roe gallery. Be­gin­ners es­pe­cially are wel­comed to sign up to ex­plore paint­ing the land­scape with Fediw.

Art in Bloom Fri­day and Satur­day, March 10 from 12:00 to 7:00 PM, and March 11 from 10:00 to 4:00 PM, with the re­cep­tion from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at The Gallery at the Made­ley Build­ing, 127 Si­mon­ton, Con­roe Tx 77301. Art in Bloom is an event which brings the love of art and the beauty of na­ture to­gether in one show. Se­lected lo­cal artists's paint­ings are in­ter­preted by area flo­ral de­sign­ers, then both the paint­ing and the flo­ral ar­range­ment is dis­played to­gether in gal­leries and re­tail lo­ca­tions in down­town Con­roe. At­ten­dees will be en­cour­aged to take a “Walk­ing Tour” of down­town to see each in­stal­la­tion. Sev­eral of the Art League's mem­bers were those cho­sen for this event, in­clud­ing Karen Blake, Kerry Con­kling, Joyce Beck­with, and Lisa Wad­dell, Terri San­ders, De­bra Ri­ley and Joyce Isen­barger Other talented lo­cal artists cho­sen for this event in­clude Betsy Maloney, Carolina Dal­mas, Kath­leen Wil­mont, and Su­san Sheets. Other host­ing mer­chants in his­toric down­town Con­roe in­clude As­sis­tance League Thrift Shop, The Brand­ing Iron, Cow­town Cou­ture, Brown­lee Jewel­ers, Con­roe Cof­fee, Cen­tral Mar­ket Fine Art Gallery, Mimi's on Main, Cam­po­bella Bronze Fine Art Stu­dio, and The Cor­ner Pub. Lo­cal florists in­clude The Blos­som Shop, The Bloom­ing Idea, A Dif­fer­ent Bloom, HEB Blooms, Gil­more's Florist and Gifts, Flow­ers Texas Style, Krogers Flo­ral #472, Caney Creek High Flo­ral, Wood­lands Rain­bow Flow­ers and The Wood­lands Flow­ers. The Con­roe Art League is a 501(c) 3 non-profit or­ga­ni­za­tion that has for fo­cused for more than fifty years on en­cour­ag­ing artis­tic de­vel­op­ment and cul­ti­vat­ing an ap­pre­ci­a­tion for the vis­ual arts through ed­u­ca­tion, ex­hibits and com­mu­nity out­reach. Its phys­i­cal pres­ence in the Gallery at the Made­ley Build­ing in down­town Con­roe since 2012 has greatly en­hanced the League's abil­ity to ex­tend its ed­u­ca­tional and out­reach ef­forts for the greater Con­roe area and Mont­gomery County. Its pro­grams have in­cluded a month-long Art and Nu­tri­tion Pro­gram for Hauke Aca­demic Al­ter­na­tive High School; part­ner­ing with the City of Con­roe in its Multi-Arts sum­mer pro­grams for area youth; host­ing on­site work­shops and classes led by ac­com­plished art teach­ers; sup­port­ing the ef­forts of as­pir­ing high school artists with its an­nual Stu­dent Schol­ar­ship show and com­pe­ti­tion; sup­port­ing the de­vel­op­ment of coun­ty­wide artists of all ages in two an­nual art com­pe­ti­tions; and de­vel­op­ing an art work­book for area un­der­priv­i­leged chil­dren to in­tro­duce them to their cre­ativ­ity and aid in their suc­cess in school.
