CUTTING

Prepare templates for the snowman appliqué shapes using the full-size motif given. Cut out shapes as directed on each pattern. From blue felted wool or wool felt: • Cut 1 ( 5/ 8" x 6") strip for scarf tie. From light blue snowflake print: • Cut 2 (1" x 20") strips. Subcut each strip into 1 each 1" x 11"

B strip and 1" x 6" C strip. • Cut 1 (6" x 20") strip. Subcut strip into 1 (6" x 12") backing

COMPLETING THE APPLIQUÉ

1. Position the body shape on the lower left corner of A, aligning the straight edges of the body with the raw edges of the fabric as shown in Figure 1. 2. Arrange and pin the remaining appliqué shapes on the body in numerical order using the placement lines shown on the pattern for overlapping shapes. Baste or use fabric glue to temporarily hold pieces in place. Note: Do not place any fabric glue near the outer edges.

Sometimes a little project is what I need for recharging. It gives me that boost of being able to start and finish something quickly, and I have a cute little decoration or gift at the end of the day.” —Chris Malone

7. Stitch in the ditch of seams between B and A and C and A. Add other quilting as desired.

8. Sew the two smaller black buttons in position on the face for eyes.

9. Sew the larger black button in place on the snowman as marked on the pattern for positioning.

10. Tie the 5/8" x 6" blue wool strip to make a knot in the center for scarf tie. Pull threads on the scarf tie ends to make a fringe as shown in Figure 4.

11. Hand-stitch the scarf knot to the right end of the scarf referring to the Placement Diagram for positioning.

12. Sew the two larger snowflake buttons to the sky area on A.

13. Sew the smallest snowflake button to the hat.

14. Tie the ribbon in a bow and use to hang from a door or cabinet knob. QW
