MATERIALS

• 12 fat eighths assorted blue prints or

48 (6" x 10") blue scrap rectangles* • 5/ 8 yard dark blue print* • 21/ 3 yards white solid* • Backing to size • Batting to size • Thread • Template material • Basic sewing tools and supplies *Regency Blues and Bella Solids fabric collection­s from Moda used to make sample.

CUTTING

Prepare a template using pattern given. Cut as directed on the pattern; mark the top center. From dark blue print: • Cut 1 (21/2" by fabric width) strip.

Subcut strip into 9 (21/2") D squares. • Cut 5 (21/4" by fabric width) binding strips. From white solid: • Cut 6 (91/2" by fabric width) strips. Subcut strips into 16 (91/2") B squares and 24 (21/2" x 91/2") C rectangles. • Cut 5 (21/2" by fabric width) E/F strips.

COMPLETING THE BLOCKS

1. Fold one A wedge in half along length with right side together and stitch across the top straight edge using a 1/4" seam allowance as shown in Figure 1.

2. Open the A wedge and press down the top edge with seam centered on the wrong side as shown in Figure 2; press flat to make an angled point. 3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 with all A wedges. 4. Select and join three A wedges to make an A unit as shown in Figure 3; press. Repeat to make a total of 16 A units.

5. Place an A unit on one B square matching edges of the A unit with two edges of B as shown in Figure 4; pin or baste to hold.
