PROJECT NOTES

Read all instructions before beginning this project.

Stitch right sides together using a 1/4" seam allowance unless otherwise specified.

Materials and cutting lists assume 40" of usable fabric width for yardage. WOF – width of fabric HST – half-square triangle QST – quarter-square triangle

CUTTING

Prepare large and small Dresden blades and circles for fusible appliqué using patterns given and referring to Raw-Edge Fusible Appliqué on page 40. From red & white stripe cut: • 3 (21/2'' x WOF) binding strips

COMPLETING THE TABLE RUNNER

1. Fold the gray with white dots rectangle in half lengthwise and fingerpress a light crease. Open and repeat, folding it in half on the width. Use these creases to line up the points of the large Dresden blades as you arrange the snowflake appliqués. 2. Place two large blades vertically at the center, with the points touching the crease and 11/4'' from the edge as shown in Figure 1. Place two large blades horizontally at the lengthwise crease and fill in the spaces with four small blades between the large blades. The open center should resemble an octagon about 11/2'' across. Fuse in place. 3. In a similar fashion, arrange one snowflake at each side of the center snowflake with the tips of the horizontal blades 1'' apart as shown in Figure 2. Fuse in place. 4. Machine blanket-stitch all around the edges of the snowflakes using white thread. 5. Place a red circle over the center of each snowflake. Fuse in place. Evenly space the remaining circles down the long sides of the runner, about 11/4'' from the long edges. Machine blanket-stitch around the edges using red thread. 6. Layer, quilt as desired and bind referring to Quilting Basics.
