Ru­mor has it that the bev can bal­ance the body’s ph, fight off in­fec­tions, and reg­u­late di­ges­tion and blood cir­cu­la­tion. None of that has been defini­tively proven by sci­ence, but there’s at least one known ben­e­fit: “Warm wa­ter with lemon has a health halo around it,” mean­ing a placebo ef­fect, says New York City reg­is­tered di­eti­tian Tanya Zucker­brot. “It can help jump-start healthy habits by mo­ti­vat­ing you to con­tinue your healthy day.” Plus, drink­ing an ex­tra glass of wa­ter—with lemon or not—gets you that much closer to your daily H2O goal.
