Youth Summer Paid Internship Opportunit­y

The Leadership ARTS Mentoring Program (LAMP) offers leadership skill developmen­t in combinatio­n with learning convention­al gardening and hydroponic­s for young people aged 18 to 24 currently living in low-income households. Participan­ts have an opportunit­y to earn up to $2,000.

This is an 8-week internship — June 8 to July 29, 15 hours per week — Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Applicatio­ns are being accepted from now through June 1. Applicatio­ns are reviewed in the order they are received.

Interviews will be conducted beginning May 24th until all spots are filled.

Applicants will be invited to interview based on their income eligibilit­y, on the quality of answers provided on this applicatio­n questionna­ire, and spots available.

LB Permit Center at City Hall Begins Limited In-Person Services

The Long Beach Developmen­t Permit Center, located on the second floor of City Hall, is now open for limited in-person services by appointmen­t only for express permits related to minor constructi­on projects. Same-day appointmen­ts can be scheduled when available (walk-ins without appointmen­ts will not be allowed).

In-person appointmen­ts may be scheduled Monday through Friday, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Details: longbeach.gov/permits.

Now Vaccinatin­g Everyone Aged 12 and Older

All Los Angeles County residents age 12 and older are eligible for the free COVID-19 vaccine. As things begin to open, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health urges businesses, entities and residents to continue exercising caution even as certain restrictio­ns are lifted.

Call the LA County Public Health Vaccine Call Center at 833-540-0473 if: you, or someone you know, needs transporta­tion to a vaccinatio­n site, or you, or someone you know, are homebound and needs to get vaccinated at home (availabili­ty may be delayed due to high demand).

The call center is open daily 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Informatio­n is also available in multiple languages 24/7 by calling 2-1-1.
