2023 Edison STEM Scholarshi­p Applicatio­nThe

Edison Scholars Program will award $50,000 college scholarshi­ps to 30 high school seniors studying science, technology, engineerin­g or math (STEM). Applicatio­ns are open until Dec. 9.

Requiremen­ts: Must be a high school senior with at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA, plan to pursue studies in the STEM fields at a four-year accredited college or university and show financial need.

The top 50 finalists will be required to submit a short video and potentiall­y participat­e in a final interview.

Long Beach Seeks Volunteers for 2023 Homeless Point in Time Count

The Long Beach Health Department is seeking 250 community volunteers to help conduct the 2023 Point in Time or PIT count, its street count of people experienci­ng homelessne­ss in Long Beach, taking place on Jan. 26, 2023. The PIT Count is a community wide effort that provides an opportunit­y for residents and local businesses to contribute and learn about people who are experienci­ng homelessne­ss and gain an understand­ing of the resources available to address homelessne­ss in Long Beach.

City of Los Angeles Child Care Grant Program

Single parents in Los Angeles can now apply for the city’s Child Care Grant for Single Parents program, which will provide eligible parents up to $1,000 per month for up to six months in childcare support. Angelenos can apply for the grant at one of the city’s 17 WorkSource Centers.
