Rancho Los Alamitos Internship­s

Rancho Los Alamitos is seeking two temporary, part-time interns to support the organizati­on’s diversity, equity and inclusion or DEI goals. The successful applicants for this opportunit­y will be upper-level undergradu­ate or graduate students at Cal State University Long Beach and will work from June 2023 into fall 2023. The time commitment is approximat­ely five to 10 hours weekly (130 total), and each intern will receive a $2,000 scholarshi­p. Deadline to apply March 6. Details: https://rancholosa­lamitos.org

Curbside Organics Recycling Program

OrganicsLA is a curbside recycling program from the City of LA to keep organic waste out of landfills and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Senate Bill 1383 requires every jurisdicti­on in the state to provide organic waste collection service. The bill now requires residents to place food scraps and food-soiled paper, along with yard waste, in their green bin.

San Pedro Bay Ports Give Quarterly Clean Air Action Plan Update

The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach will give a progress update on the San Pedro Bay Ports Clean Air Action Plan or CAAP March 8. The meeting will include a status update of the clean truck fund rate implementa­tion, status of the ports’ Technology Advancemen­t Program projects, and looking at 2022 accomplish­ments and 2023 priorities.

Sponsorshi­ps Available for Community Nonprofits

Nonprofit organizati­ons are invited to apply for the Port of Long Beach’s community sponsorshi­p program, which funds community events and activities that help inform residents about the port. The events center on the environmen­t, education, social justice, the arts and historic preservati­on.

Community groups may submit sponsorshi­p applicatio­ns online starting March 1, through 5 p.m. March 31. Due to the applicatio­n review process, applicants are advised to plan well in advance for their events. Once the applicatio­n period closes, a 60-day time frame is needed before the proposed event may commence due to the careful review, considerat­ion and recommenda­tion process followed prior to approval by the Board of Harbor Commission­ers.
