PLOTTING YOUR FUTURE

Rappahannock News - - SCHOOL & SPORTS NEWS - by Randy Minter

When the purchase of a burial plot is part of funeral preplanning, special attention should be paid for pre-need contracts that involve trust accounts. While these funds are generally designed to keep pace with inflation, matters regarding their payment should be fully understood. Another issue pertaining to the purchase of a burial plot involves those designated as “ pre-owned.” This term only indicates that the previous owner decided to sell the plot either because he or she is moving or for other reasons; it does not mean that the plot has been previously used. Other factors, including the placement of a marker and perpetual care of the gravesite, are also topics to bring up during the pre-planning stage.
