James H. Falls
James Henry Falls, 80 of Woodville, VA died on March 5, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Falls was born on Sept. 10, 1931 at Flint Hill, VA a son of the late Layton and Flora Howell Falls. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Myrtle Burke Falls; a brother, Ralph Falls and a sister Frankie Early. He worked as a route salesman for Pepsi-cola Bottling Company in Warrenton and then served with the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a merchant and farmer with his wife for most of his life. He and his wife operated the Sperryville Corner Store from 1955 to 1965 during which time they also began farming their farm in Woodville. In 1968, the couple was awarded the contract to administer the USDA Food Program in Rappahannock County until food stamps began in 1973. From 1975 to 1982, the couple operated the family store of Mrs. Burke, Burke´s Grocery, in Woodville.
He is survived by his son and his wife- Timothy and Sandy Falls, Woodville; four grandchildren, Samantha Falls Keys and her husband Joshua of Slate Mills, Robert Falls of Washington, VA and Timothy and Kristen Jenkins, both of Woodville; one great granddaughter, Raleigh Keys of Slate Mills. Additional survivors include his brother, Bernard Falls, Culpeper, VA and three nephews.
He was an active member of the Woodville Baptist Church for many years and had served as Sunday School Director, Deacon and Trustee.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Thursday at Woodville Baptist Church, 4629 Sperryville Pike, Woodville, VA 22749. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 9 at the church by Rev. Ronald Lee Poe. Interment will follow in St. Paul´s Cemetery, Woodville.
Pallbearers will be Richard Wayland, David Timbers, Dick Burke, Tim Norman, Jerry Burke and George Harrison.
