County Park repairs
Starting next Monday (June 4), the two tennis courts at the Rappahannock County Park, as well as the basketball court, will undergo major repairs and resurfacing, according to County Administrator John McCarthy.
While the basketball courts will return to service within a few weeks, McCarthy said, the tennis court repairs will keep them out of commission until the last full week in July, weather permitting. The tennis courts will have the section of chain link fence closest to the highway removed, with net posts removed thereafter and reinstalled in new footings. Cracked surfaces will be milled fine and repaired, with several lifts of new asphalt added. The asphalt will need to cure for 30 days before the new tennis court surfaces are put down, with new paint and lining.
Except for periods when equipment is being moved into or out of the site, McCarthy said, the balance of the park's facilities will be unaffected by the operations.

The Culpeper mill produces fresh feeds for agricultural animals and horses. CFC Farm & Home Center feeds include varieties for horses, beef and dairy cattle, poultry, swine, sheep, goats, rabbits, even llamas and alpacas. Pace-Maker is their premium line of equine feeds, which is formulated in collaboration with Kentucky Equine Research and milled with local grains and cereals.
To earn the honor of displaying the Virginia’s Finest trademark, Virginia products must meet or exceed quality standards and be approved by the Virginia’s Finest Review Committee. CFC Farm & Home Center also carries the “Virginia Grown” trademark. Look for both when shopping for feed for your animals, as well as food for your family. It’s D.A.R.E. Day
Annual D.A.R.E. Bolen cemetery trip
Remember, the first group trip to the Bolen Family Cemetery will be this Saturday (June 2). Meet at the parking lot at the end of Route 614 to leave between 11 and 11:30 a.m. If you have them available, SUVs and 4x4s would be appreciated. Homecoming
Mark your calendar for Homecoming Day at Gid Brown Bible Baptist Church on June 3. Starting at 10 a.m., there will be special singing by the Rochester Family. Scott Matthews will be the guest speaker for the 11 a.m. service, and lunch will be served at noon. For the 1:30 p.m. service, the Rochester Family sings and pastor Vinton Williams preaches. Graduation
Graduation for the Rappahannock County Public Schools’ seventh graders is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Friday, June 8. The RCHS seniors will graduate at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at the high school.

The Rappahannock County Garden Club will participate in National Garden Week June 3-9 by displaying flower design arrangements at the Rappahannock County Library (arrangement created by Mary Collins), Union First Market Bank (Louise Bondelid’s arrangement), and the county treasurer’s office (arrangement by Jeanne Jarrett).
