Republican July 4th: Join members of the Rappahanno­ck County Republican Committee “under our tent” at the sixth annual Rappahanno­ck County 4th of July Celebratio­n. Picnic all day with family, friends and neighbors, and enjoy spectacula­r fireworks at dusk. Fifth District U.S. Rep. Robert Hurt will be visiting us for a “meet and greet,” and visitors to the tent receive a free copy of the Constituti­on, plus complement­ary drinks and sweets.

Safety fair: A Safety Fair sponsored by Girl Scout Troop 628 is part of Rappahanno­ck’s 4th of July Celebratio­n from 2 to 6 p.m. at Thornton Hill Race Course, featuring expert speakers on various safety topics relating to the county, including animal, medical, fire, auto, food and internet safety.
