Declaration of Independence reading: Citizens read the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights in a brief ceremony for young and old that starts at 10 a.m, followed by an appropriate song or two. July 4th celebration: Rappahannock County’s July 4th celebration starts at 1 p.m. at Thornton Hill Race Course, 4137 Sperryville Pike, Sperryville. Music, amusements, food, tailgating, Congressman Robert Hurt, serving Virginia’s 5th District will be visiting and more, plus fireworks at dusk. Republican July 4th: Join members of the Rappahannock County Republican Committee “under our tent” at the sixth annual Rappahannock County 4th of July Celebration. Picnic all day with family, friends and neighbors, and enjoy spectacular fireworks at dusk. Fifth District U.S. Rep. Robert Hurt will be visiting us for a “meet and greet,” and visitors to the tent receive a free copy of the Constitution, plus complementary drinks and sweets.
Safety fair: A Safety Fair sponsored by Girl Scout Troop 628 is part of Rappahannock’s 4th of July Celebration from 2 to 6 p.m. at Thornton Hill Race Course, featuring expert speakers on various safety topics relating to the county, including animal, medical, fire, auto, food and internet safety.
