Var­sity Vol­ley­ball: The Wake­field Coun­try Day School Lady Owls re­turned home to face Tan­dem Friends in a con­fer­ence match on Oct. 4 and earned a 3- 0 sweep of the Badgers. Ash­lyn Ramey held her serve for 10 points, in­clud­ing nine aces in the third match. The Lady Owls then played Ran­dolph-Macon Academy in a non-con­fer­ence match on Oct. 9 and recorded their sec­ond straight 3-0 sweep against the Yel­low Jack­ets. The Lady Owls trav­eled to play Se­ton School in a non-con­fer­ence match on Oct. 11. The Owls fought hard – in­clud­ing stand-out ef­forts from mid­dle hit­ters Alexan­dra Can­cio-Bello and Maeve Dale – but fell to the Con­quis­ta­dors 0-3. The Owls’ record is 10-8 over­all and 4-0 in the De­laney Ath­letic Con­fer­ence (DAC).

Var­sity Soc­cer: The Owls trav­eled to Chelsea Academy for a non-con­fer­ence game on Oct. 4 and notched a 5-1 win. Marc Cugnon and Conor O’Heir had a goal each, while Daniel Chad­duck recorded a hat trick. The Owls then trav­eled to Mar­shall to face Fresta Val­ley in a non- con­fer­ence game on Oct. 9. Daniel Chad­duck scored for the Owls, but the Pi­o­neers net­ted five goals in the game to take a 5-1 vic­tory. Their record is 2-1-1 in the DAC and 4-4-2 over­all.

Var­sity Cross Coun­try: The Owls trav­eled to Ran­dolph-Macon Academy for a DAC meet on Oct. 4. Lu­cas DuMez was the top fin­isher for the boys fin­ish­ing in 29th place in 22: 46. Michael Chen was in 30th place at 22: 50. Fred Wang came in 73rd out of a field of more than 100, with a time of 26.35. Kitty Lo placed 40th for the girls, with Mary Leskovec and Jes­sica Leskovec fin­ish­ing 46th and 48th re­spec­tively.

Var­sity Tennis: The Lady Owls trav­eled to Fox­croft School for a match on Oct. 4. Bri­anna Ro­driguez won 8-3 in the num­ber one sin­gles match but Fox­croft swept num­ber two, three and four sin­gles. Madi­son Romine had a good match in the num­ber five match be­fore los­ing 9- 7. Fox­croft then swept the dou­bles matches to win the team match 6-1. At Ran­dolph-Macon Academy on Oct. 9, Bri­anna Ro­driguez dropped a tough match at num­ber one, 8- 6. Maken­zie Ma­garo won 8-1 at num­ber three sin­gles. Mon­ica Mar­ciano had a good match at num­ber five sin­gles be­fore los­ing 8-4. Ma­garo and Ro­driguez lost a tiebreaker at num­ber one dou­bles 9-8 (7-1). The Jack­ets claimed the team match 6-1. The Lady Owls hit the road again Oct. 11 to Mid­dle­burg Academy and earned a 5- 0 sweep of the Dragons. Bri­anna Ro­driguez won 8-1 at num­ber one sin­gles. Grace Al­bert won at num­ber two sin­gles 8- 3. Maken­zie Ma­garo com­pleted the sin­gles with an 8-3 win at num­ber three. Madi­son Romine and Ro­driguez teamed up to win 8-4 in the num­ber one dou­bles. Me­gan Kel­ley and Mon­ica Mar­ciano pulled out an 8-6 dou­bles win. Their record is 2-4 on the sea­son.
