The RappCats folks have their annual meeting at 1 p.m. on March 17 at the Middleton Inn. Topics of discussion include a summary of 2012 activity and achievements, as well as goals for 2013. Bluegrass Brunch

The third annual Blue State Bluegrass Brunch is 10 to 1 March 23 at the Washington fire hall (10 Firehouse Lane). Smiggy and his Guitars are providing the music. Special guests include Sen. Mark Herring, candidate for Virginia attorney general; lieutenant governor candidate Aneesh Chopra; and House of Delegates candidate Colin Harris. Fodderstack Race

The 35th annual Fodderstack 10K race is from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 20. Get out your pen, and circle that date in red on your calendar so you save the date for one of Rappahannock County’s most hallowed traditions.

Longtime local runners, some Rappahannock weekenders and the dedicated runners from all over travel to Rappahannock for what is often the first great day of spring.
