Team effort made RappCats’ flea market a success

-

RappCats would like to thank the Rappahannock community for its generous support of our flea market June 14 at the Vierling warehouse in Flint Hill. It was a team effort with our volunteers and members of the community who donated their time and thousands of items, lent us tables and tents, and bought our sale items the day of the event.

Proceeds will be used for our ongoing work to help the homeless cats of Rappahannock County through our adoption center, re-homing, spaying and neutering, foster and family assistance programs.

In particular, we would like to thank Bruce and Vi Vierling for their ongoing support of RappCats and loan of space in the warehouse to store and display our sale items, to High on the Hog in Luray

for its generous donation of pulled pork sandwiches, and to our wonderful warehouse neighbors, the Mullany Art Studio ( Tom and Kerrie) and Jim Carney, for their support during our event. We are also grateful to the Rappahannock News for its coverage.

With the community’s help, we raised nearly $ 4,000 to support our mission of filling the void in county services with a private cat adoption center. Many shoppers visited the kitties in the adoption center, which resulted in one solid adoption and interest in several others.

It was a festive community activity, with shoppers picnicking on sandwiches and enjoying the homemade cat cookies and cat cakes. Many people went from our flea market to the Flint Hill Public House Backyard Tasting & Music Festival and vice versa.

A good time was had by all!
