Formal registration for new kindergartners will be held at Rappahannock County Elementary School on Tuesday, April 12, Wednesday, April 13, Thursday, April 14, and Friday, April 15. ➤ Virginia Cooperative Extension offers a 8- week LIFT program beginning April 4 through May 25, Mondays and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a. m. on improving your health at the Washington School, 603 Mt. Salem Ave., Washington. The program promotes balance and flexibility with the goal of improving functional fitness and independent living in older adults. ➤ Skyline CAP Head Start is a free preschool program for 3- to 5- year- old children from income eligible families. Applications for the 2016- 2017 school year are now being accepted. ➤ Local 2016 NAACP scholarship applications are now available for high school seniors interested in continuing their education at a 2- or 4- year postsecondary institution. Priority will be given to those students from traditionally underrepresented, underserved and marginalized populations who exhibit financial need and demonstrate academic promise and a dedication to improving their community. Students who reside in the service area of Culpeper, Madison and Rappahannock counties can obtain an application from their high school guidance office. Applications can also be downloaded from the NAACP-Culpeper Branch website: www.naacpculpeper.com. Applications must be postmarked by April 1.
