The Board of Supervisors meets on Monday, April 4 at 2 p.m., at the county courthouse on Gay Street. Agenda includes: Audit report-Josh Roller of Robinson, Farmer, Cox, Associates, mutual aid agreement; amendment, adoption of employment contract of John W. McCarthy; county administrator’s employment contract; appointment of clerk to the Board of Supervisors; Polin, Bargmann, Jenkins property resolution; Salstonstall: modification of restrictive covenants; Give Local Piedmont Day; and Fran Krebser’s term on the Library Board expired on Dec. 31; eligible for reappointment. For the 7 p.m. meeting: Fire and Rescue tax credit.
Foothills Forum meets on Thursday, March 31, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Foothills Forum board and advisors will hold their monthly meeting in the 4-H Conference Room, 2nd Floor, Tula’s Building in Little Washington. The meeting is open to the public.
People Inc., is offering a free entrepreneurial business and management workshop on Thursday, April 14, covering key elements of business startup and expansion at the Rappahannock County Library, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Advanced registration is required. Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services, (RRCS) meets on Tuesday, April 12 at 1 p.m., at 15361 Bradford Road, Culpeper. At the March 14 Town Council meeting, the council voted to continue its meeting to April 5 at 10 a.m., at Town Hall in order to hold a 20162017 budget work session.
The Rappahannock County Water & Sewer Authority (RCWSA) meets at 5:30 p.m., on Thursday, April 14 at the county courthouse, 2nd floor.
4-H is offering day-long summer trips from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., for 6- to 13-year-olds at Valley Star Farm and the Luray Zoo, (June 14); Wilson’s Animal Park, (June 21); CulpeperMadison-Rappahannock (CMR) Farm Show and the Castleton Festival Theatre House, Williams’ Orchard and NOVA 4-H Poo (July 12); Splashdown Water Park (July 19) and Graves Mountain Lodge (July 26). Busing will be provided at various locations throughout the county each morning. Participants will need to be picked up at the RCES auxiliary gym each afternoon at 4 o’clock. Space is limited. Thanks to the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation, for only $25, participants will receive busing to each field trip, entry fees, daily supervision and snacks.
Summer Camp, (June 6-10) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and 2 p.m., on Friday, for children 6 to 12 years of age. Campers spend five days at the Northern Virginia 4-H Ed Center where they participate in morning workshops. They swim every day and participate in afternoon activities such as a giant game of capture the flag, a talent shop and a carnival. Teen counselors and adult volunteers help lead this exciting camping program. School buses transport campers to the 4-H center. Cost is $80 for campers.
The 4-H Culpeper-Shenandoah-Rappahannock Overnight Camp is July 31 through Aug. 4 at the 4-H Ed Center, Front Royal, for 9- to 13-year-olds. Campers arrive Sunday evening and spend the next four days swimming, canoeing, horseback riding, and performing in the talent show and ending each day at the campfire circle. Cost is $265.
