Habitat for Humanity to build local family home

-

Fauquier Habitat for Humanity will be breaking ground on a new home in Rappahannock County for a family in need and invites residents to attend an informational community meeting at the Chester Gap Fire Department on Monday, April 11 at 6 p.m.

Anyone who would like to support the project by donating time at the building site, building materials or funds, or who would like to learn more about Habitat for Humanity’s programs, is welcome to attend.

Fauquier Habitat will be accepting applications from families interested in its home ownership program. Families of one to four persons interested in purchasing an affordable home through the program should also attend the meeting.

“We are thrilled to be working with the Rappahannock County community to help a local family build a safe and affordable home,” Sheri Thorpe, interim executive director said. “Together we are creating a foundation that breaks the cycle of poverty and ensures that everyone has a decent place to live.”

Since its inception, Fauquier Habitat for Humanity has built or rehabbed 51 homes in Fauquier and Rappahannock counties. This work is accomplished through the support of volunteer labor and community donations.
