Open House at Belle Meade Day Camp for boys and girls 6-13 on Sunday, April 17, 1-3 p.m., again on Sunday, May 1, from 1-3 p.m. The five two-week camp sessions run from June 6-17, June 20-July 1, July 4-15, July 18-29, Aug. 1-12, with swimming, hiking, canoeing, archery, arts and crafts. 4-H is offering day-long summer trips from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., for 6- to 13-yearolds at Valley Star Farm and the Luray Zoo, (June 14); Wilson’s Animal Park, (June 21); Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock (CMR) Farm Show and the Castleton Festival Theatre House, Williams’ Orchard and NOVA 4-H Poo (July 12); Splashdown Water Park (July 19) and Graves Mountain Lodge (July 26). Busing will be provided at various locations throughout the county each morning. Participants will need to be picked up at the RCES auxiliary gym each afternoon at 4 o’clock. Space is limited. Thanks to the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation, for only $25, participants will receive busing to each field trip, entry fees, daily supervision and snacks.
Summer Camp, (June 6-10) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and 2 p.m., on Friday, for children 6 to 12 years of age. Campers spend five days at the Northern Virginia 4-H Ed Center where they participate in morning workshops. They swim every day and participate in afternoon activities such as a giant game of capture the flag, a talent shop and a carnival. Teen counselors and adult volunteers help lead this exciting camping program. School buses transport campers to the 4-H center. Cost is $80 for campers.
