See you at the Fourth of July

-

On July 4, our nation will celebrate the 240th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Virginians, perhaps, have a greater reason to celebrate, as the document’s predominant author was Thomas Jefferson, a Virginia native son who, coincidentally, died on July 4, 1826. The Declaration of Independence was one of the documents that helped pave the way for our country to become the greatest nation on earth.

This Independence Day, members of the Republican Committee will host a tent at the 10th annual Rappahannock County 4th of July Celebration to benefit the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department. We hope you will join us for a variety of eats, treats and special activities. We will have free hot dogs (fresh from the grill), brownies, cookies, lemonade and wine. You will find fellowship with the kindest people and ingest some of the best political conversation. You can register to win free books (some autographed), participate in a presidential straw poll, and perhaps win a free Donald Trump sign! We will read the Declaration of Independence and perhaps engage in some old-fashioned Founding Father trivia. We hope to host a few 2016 candidates and/or their campaign managers, and, of course, the grande finale fireworks are the best west of D.C.!

Through the years, our Republican Committee has faithfully supported this effort. We look forward to seeing you, meeting you and perhaps engaging you in what may be our most important presidential election.

On behalf of the entire Rappahannock County Republican Committee,

EVELYN M. KERR

Chair
