➤ Commit to Be Fit is a school sponsored, grant funded program that offers weekly exercise classes and wellness workshops for the Rappahannock County community. All classes, workshops, and events are free of charge, open to the public, and held at the Rappahannock County Public Schools. ➤ Virginia Cooperative Extension offers an eight-week LIFT program March 20 to May 10, meeting 10 to 11 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Washington School (603 Mt. Salem Ave.). LIFT promotes balance and flexibility with the goal of improving functional fitness and independent living for older adults. Cost is $5 for the entire program, cosponsored by Rapp at Home. ➤ De’Danann Glassworks, 23 Spyder Mountain, Sperryville, is offering Open Studio Session from 10 a.m. to noon on March 25 for students who would like to come in for a one day session to work on their projects. ➤ Town of Washington’s Planning Commission meets on Monday, March 27, at 7 p.m. at Town Hall to continue the Comprehensive Plan review. The Planning Commission will also be holding a special Public Forum on Saturday, April 8, at 10 a.m. at Town Hall to continue the Comprehensive Plan review
The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
➤ The Rappahannock County School Board and the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors will hold a joint Public Hearing on the proposed fiscal 2018 School Board Budget on March 28, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at the Rappahannock County High School. The public is invited to attend and to comment on the budget. This is done pursuant to Section 22.1-92 of the Code of Virginia.
➤ Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services will hold a Called Board Meeting on March 28 at 2:30 p.m. at 15361 Bradford Road, Culpeper. Individuals with disabilities who require special assistance to attend and participate should contact Laura Wohlford at 540-825-3100, extension 3146. ➤ Rappahannock County Special Education Advisory Committee meets on March 30 at 6 p.m. in the RCES cafeteria. "Fitness Fun" will be the theme of the evening; parents and students will participate in making healthy snacks under the guidance of Commit to Be Fit Program Leaders. Students will then participate in physical fitness activities during the regular SEAC business meeting, which will feature strategies for keeping students healthy in addition to the presentation of the 2017-2018 Annual Plan Application.
➤ Board of Supervisors Buildings and Grounds Work Shop/Tour on Friday, March 31. Board of Supervisors to tour county buildings and grounds for budget planning. The tour will begin at the County Administration office and proceed down the street to the Circuit Clerk's office, Commonwealth Attorney's Office, Building Office, RAAC Theatre, Parks & Recreation, Visitor's Center, Library, and Amissville Ruritan Building. This is a tour only with any action to be taken at the next regular Board of Supervisor's Meeting.
